Pierre Stiwer, a professor of French language and literature, and Paul di Felice, lecturer/researcher at the University of Luxembourg, have directed Café-Crème (a non-profit-making association) since 1984. Commissioners of numerous exhibitions in Luxembourg, notably “The 90’s,
The Family of Man?” at the Casino, Forum of Contemporary Art, since 2000 they, together with Christian Gattinoni, have organised “European Week of the Image”.

Lecture in French: The perception of Edward Steichen in Luxembourg in relation to contemporary photography. The exhibition “The 90’s, The Family Man?” in 1997 at the Casino, Forum of Contemporary Art, at the time sparked many debates on the subject of Edward Steichen himself, but moreover on the perception of contemporary photography in Luxembourg. This lecture will try to return to this exhibition and to put it into the context of the evolution of photography to date.
